Kerala celebrates 50 years of Special Olympics
Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 12 (IANS) The celebrations of 50 years of the Special Olympics programme took place in Kerala on Friday. It was organised by the Special Olympics Bharat Kerala Chapter in collaboration with the National Charitable Trust.
Titled ‘Ekata’, the event brought together 15,000 athletes and 5,000 coaches and escorts in a unified March on the occasion of the ongoing Special Olympics Bharat-Kerala State Athletic Meet.
The meet is being held at the Lakshmibai National College of Physical Education (LNCPE) Greenfield Stadium here, according to a release.
The event was attended by many eminent persons and state officials. Kerela’s minister for irrigation Mathews D Thomas and Minister of Health and Social Justice K.K. Shailaja were present.
