Kerala Woman Passenger Missing from Train Found Dead near Uppoor
Udupi: Muralidharan, hailing from Chelakkara in Thrissur district of Kerala, has been living in Mumbai for the last two decades.
On May 8, he was travelling with his wife Ajita (40) and a daughter aged 16 by Mangala Express train on their way from Mumbai to Kerala.
They had slept after having food on the train that night. Early on May 9 morning when Muralidharan got up at Kannur, his wife was missing. He could not find Ajita even after a thorough search inside the train. He therefore, disembarked at Shoranur and filed a complaint in the police station there.
A female body in a semi-decomposed state was found lying next the railway track on a slope at Kelakudru in Uppoor village in Udupi district on Thursday morning. A shawl was found rolled around her neck. It was identified as that of Ajita.
It is suspected that the culprits murdered her and threw her off the running train at the spot. The correct picture will be available after a post-mortem report is received from KMC hospital in Manipal, where the body has been placed.
Police from Kerala have arrived to investigate in association with the Brahmavar police who have registered a case.
