Keshava Kamath New Prez of Kodagu Press Club
Madikeri: At a special general meeting of the Kodagu Press Club held on Thursday, July 7, M P Keshava Kamath of Gonikoppa was unanimously elected the new president.
The post had fallen vacant following the resignation of Jagadish Belliappa. Kamath held the pro-tem charge after the former had quit.
B G Anantashayana, one of the directors, proposed the name of Kamath, who, until now, was the senior vice president. It was seconded by Rafiq Toochamakeri, another director.
Kayapanda Shashi Somaiah was elected to the post of senior vice president, vacated by Kamath, in accordance with the bylaws. S Ganesh Kumar, until now a director, was unanimously raised to the post of vice president.
Kamath, in his speech, said that his predecessors had upheld the dignity and honour of the Press Club and assured that he too would continue the tradition. He also said that he would take everyone into confidence while discharging his duties as the president.
Those present included senior journalists and office-bearers Jagadish Belliappa, Anil H T, Ulliada M Poovaiah, S M Mubarak, Dati Poovaiah, Nanda Gujar, Lokesh Sagar and B N Manu Shenoy.
General secretary B C Dinesh welcomed the gathering and incoming vice president S Ganesh Kumar thanked everyone.
