Khader Given additional Responsibility of DK District Minister In-charge

Mangaluru: Housing and Urban Development Minister U T Khader has been given the additional responsibility of the District Minister In-charge of Dakshina Kannada.

Addressing the mediapersons at the Eden Club on June 15, Minister U T Khader said, “Yesterday night, I was given the responsibility of the district minister in-charge of Dakshina Kannada. As a district minister in-charge, I will perform my duty with integrity. I will treat everyone equally and work with everyone for the development of the district. I will try my best to retain harmony and peace in the district. All the elected representatives, no matter which party they belong, should join hands keeping politics aside and concentrate on the development of the district. I will discuss the development works with the elected representatives. Whatever work is important for the district will be discussed with the heads of education institutions, retired officers, and government officers. We should all work as a family. Former district minister Ramanath Rai has done wonderful development work in the district. I will do my best and also continue the pending projects.”

Khader further said, “Being the minister for Urban development, my main aim is to finish all the pending projects. I will give priority to Smart City project and the second phase work of ADB. I have called a meeting in Bengaluru to start the second phase of the ADB Project. For the smart city, there is a demand to appoint a commissioner to take swift decisions and we need a responsible person for that. We will take necessary measures to appoint a commissioner soon. Being the Housing minister, I will see that all the beneficiaries get housing facilities. For those who have applied from the district, we will distribute allotment letters within a week. Sometimes people find it difficult to arrange for the minimum required funds, income certificate is another issue. Since in rural areas the annual income is Rs 32,000, the beneficiaries find it difficult to get the loan. Under the Karnataka Housing Board, people should get the benefits so we have relaxed the criteria. Earlier we were constructing G+3 but private contractors are building high rise buildings. So we have decided to construct G+14 floors building so that more people can avail the housing facilities.”

Sadashiv Ullal, Ishwar Ullal, Padmanabha Naringana, Pius Monteiro, Melwyn D’Souza and others were also present.
