Bengaluru: The Bharatinagar Police have cracked the kidnapping mystery within 16 hours and arrested the youth on August 28 night, for kidnapping an 11 -year-old boy and demanding Rs 2 crore ransom to release.

The arrested have been identified as Mohammed Zain from Shivajinagar, Fahim, Muzammil, Faizan, Shahid, and Khalil from Bharatinagar.

According to the police, on August 27, a textile businessman had gone out, leaving his 11-year-old son at home. When he returned home, his son was missing. Immediately he went to the Bharatinagar police station and filed a missing person’s complaint. On the same night, the businessman received a call from a person demanding Rs 2 crore to release his son. The caller also warned of killing his son if he informed the police.

The police took the matter seriously and formed five teams to nab the kidnappers. The teams checked the CCTV footage, call details, and visited the spot to collect all the information and the criminal history of the accused. While checking, they found that Mohammed Zain was the mastermind and was visiting the textile shop every day. Mohammed, after finding out that the businessman has a lot of money, he, along with his friends, gathered all the necessary information about the businessman and his family. The group found out that 11-year-old businessman’s son was interested in kite flying. On August 27, when the businessman’s son was alone at home, Mohammed Zain assured the boy of giving him a kite and took him in his car to Tumkur after giving him soft drink laced with sleeping pills.

The kidnappers repeatedly called the businessman and demanded Rs 2 crore for his son’s release. The police in a civil dress went to Tumkur to handover the ransom to the kidnappers. As the police were searching for the boy, they found him sitting in the car along with the kidnappers. When the police went near the car, the kidnappers recognized the police and fled in the car. After a chase for about 15 km, the police finally succeeded in arresting the kidnappers.

When the police tried to arrest the kidnappers, Mohammed Zain attempted to assault the police, and in retaliation, the police Inspector fired at Mohammed’s leg. Mohammed was injured in his leg and has been admitted to the hospital. The Bharatinagar police are investigating the case.
