‘Kinnari’ actor held after model alleges rape
Bengaluru: The Rajarajeshwari Nagar police arrested a television serial actor after a Mumbai-based model filed a complaint that he raped her by promising marriage.
Police arrested Kiran Raj on Tuesday morning and booked him under IPC sections 323 (assault), 420 (cheating) and 376 (rape). Raj acted in the Kannada serial ‘Kinnari’.
The model stated in her complaint that she and Raj knew each other for five years. On March 28, she came to Bengaluru and stayed with him, when the actor promised her of marriage and raped her.
After picking a quarrel with her in his car the next day, Raj changed the version of the incident and assaulted her. The injured model went to a hospital to get treatment and flew back to Mumbai.
She later mustered courage to return and file a complaint with the jurisdictional police and narrated her ordeal to them. Arresting Raj, police produced him before a magistrate who remanded him in judicial custody.
