KKSA to hold Three-day Konkani Lokotsava from Feb 10

Mangaluru: “Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy will hold ‘Konkani Lokotsava’, from February 10 to 12. We have formed 12 committees to make the programme a grand success. More than 1000 artistes, and 36 teams consisting of 12 students will exhibit their talents during the Lokotsava. Prior to the programme, a bike rally will be organized by the youth”, said the president of KKSA Roy Castelino in a press meet held at the Bishop’s house here on February 4.

Addressing the mediapersons Roy Castelino said, “On February 4, the cultural committee of the Konkani Lokotsava, headed by senior Singers Eric Ozario and Vasanti R Nayak will train 100 students to sing during the programme.

Chappara (Pendal) Muhurat

On February 8, a Chappara (Pendal) Muhurat will be held from 9 am at the Town hall. A huge Konkani Lokotsava Pendal will be erected at the Town Hall premises.

Bike Rally

To bring awareness to the public, the youth will be holding a bike rally. The date of the rally will be announced soon.

 

Konkani Lokotsava

There are 41 communities, who speak Konkani as their mother tongue and to showcase their culture and tradition, we have organised a three-day Konkani Lokotsava which will be inaugurated on February 10. There will be various cultural programmes from various Konkani communities. 42 achievers in various fields from children to the elderly will be felicitated during Lokotsava.

Lokotsava on February 10

On February 10, the programme will be inaugurated by the district minister in-charge B Ramanath Rai. The programme will be presided by MLA J R Lobo. The first day is dedicated to the children and women to exhibit their talents. On February 10, children will present a cultural programme.

On February 11, Yuvajanotsava will be held. To mark the Yuvajanotsava, a procession will be flagged off from the Mission Compound, Balmatta which will culminate at the Town Hall. Various tableaux from Siddi, Kudmi, Kharvi, Huluswara, Mesra, Daldi, Kumbara will be the special attraction of the procession. Minister R V Deshpande will preside over the Yuvajanotsava. There will be a quiz, workshops for youth and cultural programmes will also be presented by the youth.

On February 12, awards will be presented to the achievers. A cultural programme from Kudubi, Kharvi, Siddi, Daldi, group singing and other folklore dances will be held.

Eric Ozario, Lawrence D’Souza, Vasanti R Nayak, Geetha Kini and Elias Fernandes were also present.
