KMC Alumnus & Kudla Origin Dr Sathish Nayak appointed to Texas Medical Board by TX Governor

Mangaluru : My memory goes back to the 90’s being active in Mangalore Jaycees, and Rammohan Pai Maroor (former president of Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry ) also the member of Mangalore Jaycees then, having introduced his brother-in-law (Dr Sathish Nayak), where we had a long chat. I, on behalf of Mangalorean.com/Team Mangalorean would like to extend heartfelt congratulations to Dr Sathish Nayak for his achievement, on being appointed to Texas Medical Board, in Texas-USA.

Hailing from Mangaluru, and having done his MD in Obstetrics and Gynecology from Mangalore University from KMC-Mangaluru, Dr Sathish had moved to USA two decades ago. In US, he practiced in Carthage-Illinois for five years, and then Dr Sathish moved to Andrews-Texas, where he has been practicing for the last 17 years. And now it is learnt that Governor Greg Abbott of Texas state has appointed Dr Sathish Nayak as one among other five namely Arun Agarwal, Devinder S. Bhatia, M.D., Vanessa Hicks-Callaway, and Jason Tibbels, M.D. and reappointed Robert David Martinez, M.D. to the Texas Medical Board for terms set to expire on April 13, 2025. The Board regulates the practice of medicine in Texas.

Speaking to Team Mangalorean, Rammohan Pai Maroor said, “The whole Maroor family is overwhelmed by the news of Dr Sathish’s achievement, and I am really excited since he was my very close friend, before he got married to my sister, Sumana, while he was doing his MD in KMC-Manipal/Mangaluru. After moving from Mangaluru two decades ago, he practiced in United Kingdom, from where he moved to Carthage, lllinois, a rural community of 3,000 people, practicing there for 5 years. Then he moved to Andrews-Texas, a small community of 18,000 people, practicing as Family Physician/ Obstetrician & Gynecologist, for 17 years. He is also the owner of Medical Spa in Andrews, Texas for I4 years”.

Dr Sathish currently serves as the Vice-President, of Yeriwah Mega Foundation- a charitable organization; he was President, Junior Doctors Association, Bengaluru 1986-1987; Vice-President, Karnataka Federation of Junior Doctors Association 1987; Honorary Medical Officer, G N Memorial Charitable Trust, Bengaluru; Sports Secretary, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Belgaum. He is the member of the American Medical Association; American Academy of Family Medicine; Texas Association of family Physicians; and the Texas Medical Association. He is the member, international Society for Gynecological Endoscopy 1993; Member, British Society for Gynecological Endoscopy, UK; Member-Tutorial Systems international, 1993; Life Member, World Wildlife Fund; Life Member, American Philatelic Society

Dr Sathish is the recipient of National Merit Scholar, Government of India 1979; Resident Teaching Award, 1997; bagged Second Rank in University – Biochemistry – 1983; First Rank in University – Forensic Medicine -1985; Second Rank in University – Diplomat in Obstetrics & Gynecology, 1989; Second Rank in University – MD (Obstetrics & Gynecology), 1990
