KMC Hospital Attavar Distributes 34,000 Special Manipal Arogya Suraksha Cards to BPL Families
Mangaluru: To mark the Silver Jubilee of KMC Hospital Attavar, the Distribution of Special Manipal Arogya Suraksha Cards for BPL families was held at the Sanjeevini Hall, KMC Hospital Attavar here on November 8.
The programme began with an invocation. KMC Staff Udayshanker welcomed the gathering. The programme was inaugurated by the Pro-Chancellor of Manipal University Dr H S Ballal by lighting the traditional lamp along with other dignitaries.
The Special Manipal Arogya Suraksha Card was symbolically handed over to a BPL family by Dr H S Ballal.
Addressing the gathering Dr H S Ballal said, “Today we have selected 34,000 BPL families and distributed the Special Manipal Arogya Suraksha Cards. Our aim is to help BPL families when they fall sick. Under this card, the family will get Rs 25,000 worth medical treatment for one year. Also the cardholders are eligible to get 25% discount on medicines and medical tests such as blood test, X-Ray, MRI etc.”
Dr H S Ballal also said, “Some people carry Umbrella’s so that whenever there is rain they can use it, likewise when there is Arogya Suraksha card it will come to the aid of BPL families in case they fall sick. KMC is popular for Medical Education and Treatment and patients come to KMC in large numbers. We stopped giving Arogya cards because of the great demand. But now many NGOs have come forward and today we have chosen 34,000 BPL families. I urge the BPL families to utilize this card when necessary.
