KMC Medicos Spread Awareness on Road Safety through Street Play
Mangaluru: Road Safety awareness campaigns are an important tool for Traffic Police which utilizes to communicate with the road users and to share safe driving tips for example, on the distractive effect of using a mobile phone when driving or what to do when experiencing symptoms of fatigue. To ensure that all road safety campaigns are of the highest standard and can exert maximum impact on the road user group they target, The Mangaluru Traffic Police have joined with various organization to bring awareness on Road Safety during the ongoing Road Safety Month by launching road safety campaigns together with institutions like Kasturba Medical College and KMC Hospitals, Mangaluru.
As per the theme for 2018 of National Bone and Joint Day of Indian Orthopaedic Association, KMC Hospitals Mangaluru in association with Emergency Medicine Association, Karnataka and Canara Orthopaedic Society organized a series of events on Road Safety, which was well supported by Mangaluru City Police Crime and Traffic department. There was a walkathon held yesterday morning to spread awareness on Road safety by KMC Hospitals, which started from Ambedkar Circle/Jyothi Circle, moved through Balmatta Road and culminated at KMC-Light House Hill Road. Medical Superintendent of KMC Dr Anand Venugopal, Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr Shantharam Shetty and other doctors spoke on Road Safety and injuries caused due to road accidents.
On 8 August, a street play on Road Safety was held inside the Forum Fiza Mall, where the KMC students enacted on various topics like Wearing Helmet while riding two-wheelers, not to talk on mobile while driving or riding, to slow down or stop for pedestrians when they cross the road, Not to Drink and Drive, to buckle up while driving, to obey speed limit, to follow traffic rules always, Vehicle fitness, to drive carefully, avoid road rage and so on. The act was like by all, which received a loud applaud from the crowd.
Added attraction for the event was a street play put up the police force, under the direction of Dayanand NS, and led by team leader Santhosh Padil {ASI}; along with team members namely Shanthappa {Traffic South}; Purshotham P {Traffic South}; Venugopal Sawanth {Traffic south}; Rama Prabhu {Traffic West}; Sharath Kumar {Traffic West} and Kiran Kumar {Traffic West}. Among creating awareness on various traffic issues like drunk driving, riding without the helmet, disobeying traffic rules etc, they also brought awareness about the latest trend of Kiki Challenge, with the slogan “Dance on the Floor and Not on the Road”-their performance also received a loud applaud from the audience. The event was compered by Rakesh Darshan, the Marketing Manager of KMC, Mangaluru. Medical Superintendent of KMC Dr Anand Venugopal and many other doctors graced the occasion.
