KMC organizes 1st Ever Cardiology Conf ‘Anveshana’ for Doctors of CAD Whatsapp Group

Mangaluru : Explore! Educate! Excel! Department of Cardiology-KMC Mangaluru organized First of its Kind Cardiology Conference ‘Anveshana’- for doctors of Rural and Suburban areas on CAD Whatsapp Group, at TMA Pai Convention Centre-Mangaluru on Sunday, 24 June 2018. The aim of the conference was to educate doctors of the rural and suburban areas on the Coronary Artery Disease {CAD} Whatsapp group by means of early ECG diagnosis. The Whatsapp group theme is ‘ Cardiology at your doorstep. The Conference was also aimed to take Cardiology to the grass root level, thereby saving precious lives by the way of early ECG Diagnosis. There are 256 doctors from Karnataka in this CAD Whatsapp group.
This conference also brought together nearly 200 doctors from Karnataka, Kerala, and also RMO’s from Nursing Homes, Clinics, Hospitals, and General practitioners, who all actively took part in the conference. The Conference also aimed to exchange and share their experiences and research results on all aspects of Cardiology. It also provided a premier interdisciplinary on the platform to present and discuss the most recent innovations, trends, and concerns as well as practical challenges encountered and solutions adopted in the fields of Cardiology.
The conference was inaugurated by Prof Surendra Shetty-Pro Vice Chancellor, Manipal University-Mangaluru Campus by lighting the lamp, along with Prof M V Prabhu-Dean KMC Mangaluru; Dr Anand Venugopal- Medical Superintendent, KMC Hospitals, Mangaluru; Dr R L Kamath- Prof of Cardiology, KMC Mangaluru and Dr Ramakrishna Rao- District Health Officer, Mangaluru. Dr Padmanabh Kamath-Professor in Cardiology at KMC Hospitals, Mangaluru gave a brief description about the Conference and its aims.
During the half day conference from 9 am -1 pm, various topics were discussed- Dr Jeedu Radhakrishna- Specialist, Dept of Emergency, KMC Hospitals, Mangaluru spoke on ‘Basics of CPR’ ; Dr M Narayan Bhat-Associate Professor, Dept of Cardiology, KMC Hospitals, Mangaluru spoke on ‘Newer Anti-Platelet Agents’; Dr Rajesh Bhat, Associate Professor, Dept of Cardiology, KMC Hospitals, Mangaluru spoke on ‘ ECG in AMI Diagnosis and Beyond’ ; Dr Padmanabh Kamath, Professor in Cardiology, KMC Hospitals-Mangaluru spoke on ‘ Thrombolysis in AMI’ ; Dr Narasimha Pai-Associate Professor, Dept of Cardiology, KMC Hospitals, Mangaluru spoke on ‘ Primary Angioplasty in AMI’ ;Dr Manish M Rai- Electro-Physiologist, KMC Hospitals, Mangaluru spoke on ‘ Post MI Risk Stratification’ ; Mr Soumitra Shome-CEO of Heartnet India spoke on ‘ Role of Digital Technology in Cardiology’.
There was also a ECG quiz for all the delegates, and the winner took home a brand new ECG Machine. The Conference also strived to translate advances in scientific knowledge into meaningful steps that can transform patient care- and to address everyday needs of the practicing cardiologist and physician, helping them enrich their knowledge. This conference also put the spotlight back on learning and was an academic feast as well as an effective forum for all the participants to exchange and enrich their scientific knowledge. The Conference proceedings were compered by Dr Nithish Mathur of KMC, Mangaluru.
