Knights in Khaki! 12 Outstanding Police Personnel Honored by MRT & MLC

Twelve Police Personnel belonging to Mangaluru City Police and Mangaluru Rural Police were honored during a programme “Knights in Khaki” by Mangalore Round Table and Mangalore Ladies Circle

Mangaluru: The Mangalore Round Table and Mangalore Ladies Circle organized for the first time in Mangaluru a special program called “Knights in Khaki” at Hotel Ocean Pearl-Mangaluru, where through this program 12 outstanding personnel of the Mangaluru City Police and Mangaluru Rural Police were honored. The program commenced with a brief introduction about MRT and MLC followed by the welcome speech by Tr. Sudeesh, Chairman of Mangalore Coastal Round Table . The lighting of the lamp was done by Chief Guest and Guests of honor namely-Hemanth Nimbalkar I.P.S. IGP, Western Range, Mangaluru; T.R. Suresh I.P.S. Commissioner of Police, Mangaluru City; C.H. Sudheer Kumar Reddy I.P.S. SP, Dakshina Kannada District;Tr. Mayur Shah, Area Chairman, Round Table India; and Cr. Sharon Pinto, Area Chairperson, Ladies Circle India.

The “Knights in Khaki” program was conceptualised by the Mysore Round Table 46 years ago and has been replicated in various cities across India over the past few years. This is the first time MRT and MLC have organise this event in Mangaluru where in 12 personnel from the Police Department were felicitated for their outstanding contribution in helping maintain the law and order of our beautiful city.

The 12 police personnel honored during the occasion were : Murugesh H, Constable, Bantwal Town Police Station; Smt. Sunitha M, Constable, PoonjalakattePolics Station; Parameshwara H, Constable, Puttur Town Police Station; Smt. Tejawathi Mahesh, Constable, Sullia Police Station; Kiran, Head Constable, D.C.R.B Office, Zilla Police; Sampath Kumar, D.C.R.B Dept, Zilla Police; Sujana Shetty, Mangaluru North Police Station; Sundar Achar, ASI, Ullal Police Station; Kushala Maniyani, Panambur Police Station; Kum Navyashri, Mangaluru Traffic North; Venugopal M, ARSI, CAR Wing; and K H Yusuf, ASI, CCRB Wing- each of the awardees were honoured and presented with a personalized plaque .

The Chief Guests in their address to the gathering appreciated the hard work and dedication of the personnel of the Mangalore Police Department. They also appreciated and thanked MRT and MLC for organising the event. The awardees spoke thanking their superiors and colleagues in helping them to go beyond and above their duty. They said that it’s a collective effort. They thanked the MRT and MLC for organising the event.

Tr. Vadi Shenoy, Chairman, Mangalore Round Table gave the vote of thanks. The members of the Police Department along with their families attended the event.

Mangalore Round Table (MRT)and Mangalore Ladies Circle (MLC) is a non-religious and apolitical association of young men and women formed under Round Table India and Ladies Circle India respectively. In order to finance our charitable activities MRT and MLC conduct fundraising activities such as Reflections – New Years party, Guiding Stars – blind rally, Bake Sales, etc where all the collections after expenses have been expended towards various charitable causes like construction of classrooms in government schools, donation of a Kidney dialysis machine to the government Wenlock hospital, paying for treatment of poor children suffering from cancer and other life-threatening diseases, providing meals free of cost to 350 poor people once a month, etc. The proceeds of the fundraisers and sponsorships collected are used 100% for charity only. All administrative expenses of MRT and MLC are borne by the members themselves.
