Kollur Temple to Open from June 8, Sri Krishna Temple, Mosques will not Open

Udupi: South India’s famous Sri Mookambika Temple of Kollur, Udupi district will open for the devotees from June 8.

The Temple administration has said that, as per the directions of the government, all precautionary and safety measures have been taken to check the spread of Coronavirus. Wearing masks and sanitising is mandatory, in addition to maintaining social distancing during the darshan of the presiding deity.

No food will be served at the Kollur Temple for the time being. To maintain social distancing, necessary arrangements have been made in the Temple.

India’s most famous Udupi Sri Krishna Math will not open to devotees on June 8. Devotees will have to wait for another 20 to 30 days for the darshan of Lord Sri Krishna.

Sri Eshapriya Theertha Swamiji of Paryaya Admar Math said, “If the Temple’s doors are opened, devotees from all over the country and the world will arrive. We want to ensure the health of our staff and the devotees. Sri Krishna Math has a tradition of offering the puja rituals by the Swamijis of the Ashta Math. If anyone is infected, it will affect the puja rituals”.

Udupi Zilla Muslim Okkuta has decided to open the Mosques for devotees only after the government issues guidelines.

Mangalore Diocese Bishop Dr Peter Paul Saldanha has directed all the parish priests coming under its jurisdiction to make arrangements to open the Churches and have religious services from June 13 after ensuring all the required guidelines are followed.

At the same time, the Udupi Diocese will be holding a meeting with the Diocese heads on June 8 on opening the Churches for religious services. After the meeting on Monday, June 8, the diocese will announce its stand on opening the churches. The other denominations of Udupi are awaiting the decision of the Catholic diocese on opening the Churches in the district.
