Konkani Prayer Group in Abu Dhabi to Celebrate Silver Anniversary on February 22
Abu Dhabi: The Konkani Prayer Group (KPG) in Abu Dhabi, a well-respected community organization, is set to mark its 25th Anniversary on February 22, 2025. The celebration will kick off with an outdoor Thanksgiving Mass at 5:00 PM, followed by a cultural program featuring performances by KPG members.
Founded on February 18, 2000, under the leadership of the then Parish Priest of St. Joseph’s Cathedral, Rev. Fr. Eugene Mattioli, OFM Cap., KPG has established itself as a vibrant spiritual community. The group is known for its weekly prayer gatherings, intercessory prayer sessions, and monthly Eucharistic Adoration held in the Assisi Hall. These gatherings often include a spirited choir and well-organized Praise & Worship sessions. Rev. Fr. Marian Miranda, OFM Cap., currently serves as the Spiritual Director, guiding the group in its various spiritual and community initiatives.
Preparations for the significant anniversary began in June 2024, with numerous committees being formed to oversee different aspects of the event. In the lead-up to the celebration, several competitions were organized, including a Bible Quiz, singing contests, fancy dress, skits on parables, and elocution contests, all held during the last quarter of 2024.
KPG comprises members from diverse regions, including Mangalore, Goa, Karwar, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Mysore. A large turnout is anticipated, including attendees who have relocated to other countries and those who have returned to their native homes. As a highlight of the anniversary celebration, a commemorative souvenir encapsulating KPG’s 25-year journey will be unveiled, marking this significant milestone in the group’s history.
The upcoming celebration reflects the deep commitment of KPG to foster a sense of community and spirituality among its members and will undoubtedly serve as a memorable occasion for all involved.
