Konkani Seva Mandal Goregaon West celebrates Monti Fest
Mumbai: Konkani Seva Mandal along with the parishioners of Our Lady of the Rosary Church Goregaon West, celebrated Monti fest with gaiety on 24 September 2017. The day commenced with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist in Konkani at 7:00 am.
Fr Frank Fernandes was the main celebrant. The new corn was blessed during the Eucharist. The cultural programme was held from 11:30 am onwards which was graced by the OLR Parish team.
The programme began with a beautiful prayer dance by Jenitha and Priya. The cultural programme was compered by Richard D’Sa and Venisha D’Souza. The programme included the singing of Konkani songs, dancing to Konkani tunes and Konkani comedy skit “Teen Pirkis” enacted by Johnson D’Souza, Maurice D’Souza and Francis Alvares.
There were spot prizes and lucky draw for the audience. The programme concluded with a delicious vegetarian meal served to over 350 people.
As a part of the tradition, sugarcane was distributed to all.
