Konkani Writers Association Formed
Mangaluru: Formation of a new Konkani Writers Association (Konkani Lekhak Sangh) took place at Don Bosco Hall on 25th Feb 2018.
Well known Konkani Writers of Kannada Script gathered to usher a new era in strengthening the objectives of Konkani writers. Celebrated humour writer CGS welcomed the gathering with a brief introduction. The brain behind this formation Richard Moras highlighted the reasons, objectives and challenges of this mission.
Members expressed their opinions in an open debate on the pros and cons. An ad hoc committee was selected consisting of Richard Moras, Dr Edward Nazreth, Dolphy Cascia and CGS Takode to steer the association in the right direction. Dr Jerry Niddodi, Edi Netto and J.F. D’Souza were chosen for the advisory body. Ancy Paladka agreed to be the Mumbai representative. 22 Konkani writers were present at this historic moment. Winner of recent Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy Award Herolpius was felicitated by legendary writer Edwin J.F. D’Souza with a flower bouquet.
