Kota Bandh against Toll Collection from Local Vehicles Evokes Good Response

Udupi: The Kota Zilla Panchayat constituency Bandh call under the leadership of Heddari Jagathi Samithi Sastan protest against the collection of toll from Local KA -20 vehicles has received good response here on December 7. Shop owners from Kota, Manoor, Saligrama, Sastan, Mabukla have voluntarily downed the shutters and supported the Bandh.

More than 130 various associations of surrounding areas have pledged solidarity with the bandh call given by the Samithi. Hejamadi Toll Horata Samithi, Tipper owners Association, Rotary Club, Auto Drivers and Owners Association, Goods vehicle owners and drivers Association, Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh, St Antony’s Church Sastan, Hindu Jagarana Vedike, Railway Hitharakshana Samithi, State Tailors Association Sastan, Udupi district Taximen and Maxicab Association, Savitha Samaja Kota, Muslim Jamath, JCI, SKPA Brahmavar Region, Lions Club, Civil Engineers Association and many more religious and social Associations too, have announced their participation in the bandh.

In view of the bandh call by Heddari Jagathi Samithi Sastan against toll collection from local vehicles, the district administration has deployed a huge police force near Sastan Toll Plaza to tackle any untoward incidents during the bandh.

Kemaru Math’s Sri Esha Vittaladasa Swamiji, Balekudru Math’s Narasimashrama Swamiji, Sasthan St Antony’s Church Parish Priest Rev Fr John Walter Mendonca, Sastan Jamia Masjid’s Irfan Alam, MLC Kota Srinivasa Poojary, MLA Raghupathi Bhat, Lalaji R Mendon, Haladi Srinivas Shetty, and others were present in protest meet.
