Kota Double Murder Case; accused BJP ZP Member Raghavendra Kanchan surrenders to Court

Udupi: Raghavendra Kanchan, Zilla panchayat member whose bail was cancelled by the Supreme Court surrendered before the Kundapur court in relation to the Kota double murder case on Friday, February 7.

On January 20 the Supreme Court had cancelled the bail granted to the accused Zilla Panchayat Member Raghavendra Kanchan by the Karnataka High court in the Kota Double murder case.

On January 26 late night, two youth Bharath (25) and Yathish (26) were brutally murdered with lethal weapons by miscreants during a fight that erupted over the digging of a toilet pit at Manoor, Kota in Udupi District. At that time SP Laxman Nimbargi had arrested a total of 16 accused including ZP member Raghavendra Kanchan and sent them to jail.

The murder Victim Bharath’s mother Parvathi had appealed to the Supreme Court to cancel the bail of Raghavendra Kanchan which was granted by the High Court of Karnataka. Justice Arun Mishra and Justice Indira Banerjee heard the arguments and cancelled the bail. Advocate Chandrashekar argued on behalf of Parvathi. After the cancellation of the bail, Raghavendra Kanchan was absconding.

On Friday, February 7 morning Raghavendra Kanchan surrendered before the Kundapur Court with his advocate Ravikiran Murdershwar. The court has sent Kanchan to Hiriyadka Jail.
