Kota Double Murder Case, Victim’s Family Demands Arrest of BJP ZP Member Raghavendra
Udupi: The family members of Kota double murder case victim have demanded the arrest of Raghavendra Kanchan, Zilla panchayat member whose bail was cancelled by the Supreme Court recently.
Speaking at a press meet held on Monday, February 2 at the Press Club, Hemanth brother of Bharath said that on January 20 the Supreme Court cancelled the bail granted to the accused Zilla Panchayat Member Raghavendra Kanchan by the Karnataka High court in the Kota Double murder case. The Police department is not showing any interest in arresting Kanchan. If they faill to arrest him within 3 days we will start a hunger protest infront of the SP office, he said.
The Supreme Court on Monday, January 20 cancelled the bail granted to the accused Zilla Panchayat Member Raghavendra Kanchan by the Karnataka High court in the Kota Double murder case. On January 26 late night, two youth Bharath (25) and Yathish (26) were brutally murdered with lethal weapons by the miscreants during a fight that erupted over the digging of a toilet pit at Manoor, Kota in Udupi District. At that time SP Laxman Nimbargi had arrested a total of 16 accused in this case and sent to jail. Out of the 16 accused 8 including the Zilla Panchayat memebr Raghavendra Kanchan were released on bail.
The murder Victim Bharath’s mother Parvathi had appealed to the Supreme Court to cancel the bail of Raghavendra Kanchan which was granted by the High Court of Karnataka. Justice Arun Mishra and Justice Indira Banerjee heard the arguments and cancelled the bail. Advocate Chandrashekar argued on behalf of Parvathi. The family members have submitted all the court order documents to the District SP but they did not arrest the accused Raghavendra Kanchan. The police department should arrest Kanchan within three days if they fail to arrest him then we will hold a hunger strike infront of the SP office, he warned.
