Kota Srinivas Poojary should train BJP Councillors to behave with women – Veronica Cornelio

Udupi: The Udupi Block Congress staged a protest near the Jatka Stand on Saturday, September 2 and sought action against the BJP councillors who had snatched the mike and agenda copy from the hands of CMC president Meenakshi Bannanje during the CMC general meeting.

Addressing the gathering District women’s Congress president Veronica Cornelio said that the BJP councillor’s behaviour is shameful and unfortunate, the district Congress condemns their shameful act. Udupi district is known for culture; by insulting the woman president and vice president BJP councillors have exposed their behaviour to the nation. Today, the media is very powerful, it has shown the videos of the CMC general body meeting across the world within minutes. BJP has insulted Indian women. Such conduct, behaviour and words prove BJP’s mentality.

Further, Cornelio said that BJP MLC Kota Srinivas Poojary is the best parliamentarian to give training to the people representatives in handling the meeting proceedings and the way to behave in the meeting. Poojary should first train his own party councillors on how to behave during meetings otherwise they will continue to behave in the same way in future, she added.

Congress leader Amrith Shenoy said that in 2014 the people of Udupi rejected the BJP for their 40 years of corrupt administration and gave the majority to the Congress. In the first term, Yuvaraj was elected as the president and the second term Meenakshi Bannanje and Sandhya Tilakraj both women members were elected as president and vice president of Udupi CMC. The BJP unable to digest the victory of Congress creates a ruckus during every general body meeting. In the last meeting BJP councillors, including Yashpal Suvarna and Mahesh Thakur, had snatched away the mike from the hands of Meenakshi Bannanje and files from the CMC Commissioner. The BJP leaders in their speeches call women as Mata, how then did they forget to respect our CMC women president and vice president. The deputy commissioner should take appropriate action against the BJP CMC councillors for their disgraceful conduct, he added.

Congress leaders M A Gafoor, Meenakshi Madhava Bannanje, Sandhya Thilakraj, Ramesh Kanchan, Chandrika Shetty, Yuvaraj, Celina Karkada, Christen Almeida, Prashanth Poojary, Prakayath Shetty and others were present.
