KPCC Announces S P Dinesh candidate for South West Graduate Constituency
Mangaluru: “The KPCC has announced S P Dinesh as the candidate for the South West Graduate Constituency to contest for the MLC elections in 2018. S P Dinesh has already visited the blocks in Dakshina Kannada. Four years ago when the MLC elections were held, Dinesh had contested the elections and lost by 918 votes. Earlier the BJP used to win with a huge margin but in the last elections, the BJP was able to win only by 918 votes. This is the first time the Congress has announced its candidate one year prior to the elections”, said the district Congress president Harish Kumar in a press meet held at the DCC office, Mallikatta here on August 2.
Addressing the mediapersons Harish Kumar said, ‘We are preparing for the forthcoming elections. According to the AICC Secretary P C Vishnunath, we have completed the convention and other programmes in Puttur and Sullia constituencies. In the coming days, we will organize programmes in other 6 constituencies. According to the direction of the AICC Secretary to form “One Booth one leader” we are forming the Booths and the leaders should do their best to increase the voters. Each leader should work for the success of the party in his Booth. ‘One booth 10 youth’ We will form a booth consisting of 10 youth to strengthen the youth congress.”
Harish also said, “The central government is increasing the price of day-to-day commodities. Now the Central government has ordered to discontinue the Gas subsidy. In the international market, the price of oil has been decreased from $140 to $40 but the fuel price in India has not decreased. When the UPA government was in power and the price for gas had increased by Rs 5, the opposition carried gas cylinders and protested cooking on the streets. But now when the fuel price nor the gas price has decreased they have remained silent. Cancellation the subsidy by the Central government is condemnable, they should continue the subsidy”.
S P Dinesh speaking to the mediapersons said, “I would like to thank the KPCC for announcing me as the Candidate for the MLC elections. It is history that the party has given an opportunity to prepare for the elections. Earlier the party was giving a very short time to contest for the MLC elections. According to the Supreme court order, the old voter list has been cancelled and we need to prepare a fresh voter list. In the last elections, votes were divided because of the JD(S) candidate. I request all the graduates to enroll their names in the Taluk office and cast their valuable votes in the next MLC elections.”
MUDA Chairman Suresh Ballal, Corporator Appi, KPCC Secretary Taranath Shetty, T K Sudheer, Subodh Alva and others were also present.
