K’taka Covid tally crosses 41k with 2,738 new cases
Bengaluru: Karnataka has registered 2,738 new Covid-19 cases with majority of the cases emerging from Bengaluru, breaching the 40,000 mark for the state’s tally to settle at 41,581 even as 73 people succumbed to the virus, said an official on Monday.
“New cases reported from Sunday 5 p.m. to Monday 5 p.m., 2,738,” said a health official.
Like everyday, Bengaluru accounted for the highest number of infections with 1,315 or 48 per cent of the new cases.
With the addition of new cases, the city tally rose to 19,702, out of which 15,052 are active.
Alarmingly, the city alone accounts for 61 per cent of all the active cases in the southern state.
Among the new cases, excluding Bengaluru, Yadgir accounted for 162 cases, followed by Mysuru (151), Dakshina Kannada (131), Ballari (106), Kalaburagi (89), Vijayapura (86) among others.
Meanwhile, the state has witnessed 73 Covid deaths in the past 24 hours, 47 of them in Bengaluru Urban alone. With the new deaths, the toll rose to 757.
Matching the Sunday trend, the most common symptoms in the deceased people were fever, cough and breathlessness.
In the last one day, 839 patients have been discharged, 283 within Bengaluru Urban, raising the total discharges to 16,248.
Meanwhile, critical cases in ICU rose to 545.
Of the total 41,581 cases, active cases amount to 24,572 in Karnataka.
