Kundapur Child Death Case, Court grants conditional anticipatory bail to accused mother
Kundpaur: The district and sessions court has granted conditional anticipatory bail to the accused mother who is facing charges of killing her 15-month-old baby at Yadamoge in Kundpaur Taluk.
“Initially, the victim Sanvika’s mother Rekha had informed the police that a masked intruder had entered the house from the backdoor and fled with her child during the wee hours of Thursday, July 11. She had chased the man and given up the chase after failing to cross the river along with her five-year-old son due to strong currents. The police team led by DySP Dinesh Kumar had launched a manhunt for the masked miscreant who had kidnapped the child, Sanvika Naik. On Friday, July 12 morning the Body of the child was found in the Kubja River. Sanvika’s body was found stuck in the river about two km away from Kumtiberu, Kundapur”.
“During interrogation, Rekha revealed that she had jumped into the river with her daughter and son to commit suicide. However, she and her son survived while her daughter was washed away. The Police found that Rekha has lost her mental stability. She was then sent for counseling to physiatrist of Dr A V Baliga Hospital, Doddangudde where she has been referred for further treatment. The Police added additional sections including CRPC 302, 307, 309 including an attempt to murder. The Advocate Ravikiran Murdeshwar represented on behalf of the accused and filed an anticipatory bail application for Rekha.
The prosecution strongly objected to the anticipatory bail application, but Ravikiran Murdeshwar succeeded to convince the court that the accused Rekha has lost her mental stability and demanded conditional anticipatory bail.
After hearing the arguments from both sides, the district and sessions court Judge G M Joshi granted conditional anticipatory bail to accused Rekha.
