Kundapur: To commemorate the memory of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, who had contributed to the field of Engineering in India, the Engineer’s Day was celebrated at Moodlakatte Institute of Technology, Kundapur here on September 15.
The function was inaugurated by college chairman Siddartha Shetty by garlanding the visionary Sir M Visvesvaraya’s statue.
Sharol D’Silva, student of final year Civil Engineering (CE) branch, welcomed the gathering. HOD of CE Department, Prof. Shashikala in her remarks pointed out the extraordinary qualities of Sir M Visvesvaraya and urged the students to set him as their role model in order to be great engineers with technical skills as well as personal qualities.
The first monthly newsletter of MITK featuring colourful events of the campus was released by its Chief editor Naveen B M (HOD of Electronics & Communication Engineering Department) on the occasion.
Prizes were given to the students who had won in various competitions held at the MITK campus and the toppers of the academic year 2014-15 as part of the observance of Engineer’s day.
Principal Dr Shubha P Bhat, Magazine committee members, Public Relations Officer S Abdul Rahiman and HODs of various departments were present on the occasion.
