Kundapur Couple find Unique way to urge their Wedding Guests to Vote
Kundapur: Its election season in Karnataka and while parties are going all out to ensure that constituents actually come out on the day of polling to exercise their voting right, one activist has come up with a unique idea to urge people to vote.
Ganesh Kumar son of Gowri Ganesh a resident of Talluru and Poornima daughter of Leelavathi Narayan is set to get married on May 1 at Talluru Parthikatte Sri Sheshakrishna Convention Hall. With the Assembly polls scheduled to be held just a few weeks before the wedding, both the families seeing an opportunity to spread awareness on voting have come up with the idea of designing the wedding invitation card.
The wedding invitation card will carry the message of the importance of Lok Sabha elections which is scheduled on April 18 and 23 in Udupi district. The card will carry the message, “Cast your vote for democracy to win” and also “Our votes not for sale” reaching every house.
The card states that the voters should not sell their votes but “exercise their franchise with a clear conscience”. While it asks guests for presents in ‘blessings only’ but also urges them to compulsorily vote.
Those who have the ink mark of voting on their fingers will get free books worth rupees 250.
An exhibition of Books, sales, cartoons show, and folklore exhibition will also be organised on the wedding day.
