Kundapur: One person died and four others were injured when a van hit a car that was travelling towards Kundapur at Beejadi bypass here, on October 27.
The deceased has been identified as Balakrishna (26), a native of Bengaluru and an employee of Mahindra and Mahindra.
According to the police, Balakrishna along with his two other friends, Manikanta and Arun, arrived by car to Kumbashi temple from Bengaluru. After visiting the temple, they were on their way back. When they reached near Beejadi Bypass, a van which was plying towards Udupi lost control, hit the road divider and crashed into the car before coming to a halt.
Rash and negligent driving by the van driver is said to have caused the accident. The driver and the co-passenger of the van along with two others in the car are injured and undergoing treatment in the hospital.
A case has been registered in the Kundapur traffic police station.
