Kuwait: The parishioners of Belman Welfare Association (BELWAK) along with their families and friends celebrated the annual parish feast “Vodlem Fest” of their patron St Joseph – The Saint of the Worker, at the Don Bosco School auditorium recently.
The programme began with an invocation. James Philip D’Sa briefed about BELWAK. President Anil Nazareth welcomed the gathering. Fr Noel inaugurated the programme by lighting the traditional lamp along with other dignitaries. In his festive message, Fr Noel reflected on the life of Saint Joseph, the worker. He applauded the efforts of the members of BELWAK and said that the members too are workers like St Joseph and even though they are busy with their work, they strive to do charitable deeds to the needy brethren back home in Belman. He prayed that the members may continue this good deed in the years to come. Joyce D’Souza read the Annual Report highlighting the events and charitable work done by BELWAK since its inception.
Every year BELWAK takes pride in honouring sponsors and individuals who contribute selflessly for the celebrations of the feast. Lawrence Pinto, Gilbert Crasta and Rocky D’Souza were felicitated by Fr Noel for their generosity. Choreographers Sunil/Jyothi Noronha (Jovas XXLNC), Sudhi/ Lolita Fronterio (Ballerines), Alban D’Souza (Masti Group), singers Orson D’Souza and Lolita Fronteiro, Skit Groups UMK (Agnel Saldanha) and Vimala D’Souza and group, DJ Anand, Photographer Alban D’Souza, MC Melwin Mascarenhas were also felicitated for their selfless gesture.
The audience enjoyed the entertainment of various cultural activities. Foot tapping dances were performed by “Jovas XXLNC for dance”, choreographed by Sunil and Jyothi Noronha, “Ballerines School of Dance” choreographed by Sudhi and Lolita Fronteiro and the Masti Group. Orson D’Souza (GVOM 3) and Lolita Fronteiro entertained the audience with their melodious singing. Hilarious rib tickling jokes were enacted by the UMK group under the leadership of Agnel Saldanha and the BELWAK group under the leadership of Vimala D’Souza. Besides the cultural activities, there were games for children and adults, and there were lots of spot prizes in between which were appreciably conducted by the MC.
The Housie Housie was conducted by Jerome, Clifford and Melwin. A raffle draw was conducted by Clifford, Jerome, James, Jessie and Melwin. DJ Anand entertained the crowd with his fine music. Melwin Mascarenhas compered the programme. James Philip D’Sa delivered the vote of thanks.
