Kuwait: Perampally Welfare Association Celebrates Monti Fest

Kuwait: Perampally Welfare Association Kuwait celebrated “Monti Fest” at the Indian Public School Auditorium, Salmiya on Friday, September 18, under the leadership of President Arun D’Souza.

More than 200 devotees had gathered to celebrate the “Monti Fest”. Prayer to worship Mother Mary was led by Fr Romeo Lewis, visiting parish priest of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Perampally. Children offered flowers, youngsters and adults offered various kinds of vegetables, while everyone who had gathered sang the hymns “Sakkad Sangatha Mellyan” and “Moriyek Hogolsian” in honour of Mother Mary.

The programme was compered by Edna D’Souza and Sandra D’Silva, who took charge of the entire proceedings with grace.

The cultural programme was inaugurated by Fr Romeo Lewis by lighting the lamp. Arun D’Souza extended a warm welcome to the gathering. The cultural programme proceeded with great enthusiasm and entertainment by various performers.

The entertainment part began with a fashion show performed by the tiny tots – Ashtal, Joyston, Seana, Alston, Nishmita, Nelisha, Ranon and Royden, followed by dance performances by Larissa, Ronalda, Realene, Sanya, Angel, Shanelle and the famous Ballerine’s team headed by Janet. A duet song was sung by Sandra and Johnson followed by a solo singing by Nelson. A live band show was performed by Fredrick, Ronald, Sean, Sanya, Shanelle and Realene, and a Konkani comedy skit was presented by famous Konkani artists, Satish Saldhana, Lionel Ajekar and Lucy Aranha.

Various quiz and spot prizes were conducted by Arun D’Souza, who also thanked the people for their contribution and continuous support towards the cause. Mementos were presented to the parish priest and all contributors. The “Kombo” (cock) draw was a special attraction of the event. Many parishioners sponsored for this event by means of fruits, flowers, rice, sugarcane, etc were auctioned to raise funds for the new church building. A raffle ticket draw was held and prizes were distributed by Fr Romeo Lewis.

The traditional food (Novem Jevaan) was served during the occasion by M&M confectionery. Delicious fish preparation was also served which was prepared by PWA-Kuwait members. The programme concluded with a grand baila by DJ Pele. The whole event was captured by photographer Nelson R D’Souza.
