Lakhs of Devotees throng Attur Basilica on 4th day: Ramanath Rai, Annamalai honoured

Karkala: “There are many institutions and persons who have dedicated themselves to the service of the poor and needy. By joining hands with them we can contribute considerably in the upliftment of these people”, said Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangalore Diocese while delivering the homily during the solemn annual feast mass on Wednesday, 24 January 2018, the fourth day of the five days long festivities at St Lawrence Basilica, Attur-Karkala.
There were 11 holy masses on the fourth day of the annual feast at St Lawrence Basilica out of which 3 masses were in the Kannada language. Msgr. Felix Noronha, Vicar General of Shivamogga Diocese offered the evening mass.
The main feast mass in the morning at 10:30 am was concelebrated by Bishop Aloysius P D’Souza along with Bishop Gerald Isaac Lobo, Fr Joswey Fernandes, Dean of Karkala Varado, Fr George D’Souza, Director of St Lawrence Basilica, Attur-Karkala and Fr Jensil Alva, Assistant Parish Priest of the Basilica.
A large number of devotees of St Lawrence from different parts of Karnataka attended the main feast mass.
On Thursday, 25 January 2018 there will be 10 masses out of which 7 will be in Konkani language (6:30 am, 10:00 am, 12:30 pm, 2:00 pm, 5:00 pm, 8:00 pm and 9:30 pm) and 3 in Kannada(8:00 am, 3:30 pm and 6:30 pm).
The main feast mass in honour of Our Lady of Guide will be concelebrated by Bishop Gerald Isaac Lobo at 10:00 am.
On Wednesday, 24 January 2018, Bishop Gerald Isaac Lobo along with Fr George D’Souza, Director of St Lawrence Basilica felicitated B Ramanath Rai district minister in-charge Dakshina Kannada and K Annamalai Superintendent of Police Chikkamagaluru for their service to the Basilica. Fr Denis D’sa, PRO Udupi Diocese, Fr Jancil Alva, John D’Silva, Santhosh D’Silva and others were present during the felicitation.
