Lakme Academy Holds Beauty Courses for Transgenders
Mangaluru: The Lakme Academy held beauty courses for transgenders at the Academy premises here on December 3.
Prior to the courses the transgenders offered prayers and prayed for the success of the academy.
The owner of Lakme Academy Rithesh welcomed the transgenders to the academy. Addressing the transgenders Rithesh said, “This is the first training for the transgenders. Since my childhood, I have great respect for transgenders, when I was small I watched a Malayalam Movie in which transgenders were described as part of Shiva and Parvathi. I have special respect towards the transgender community. I had requested Violet Pereira to give me an opportunity to serve the transgenders. I would like to thank her for bringing you all here and providing me with this opportunity. I would like to thank the members of Parivarthan Charitable Trust and Joyce Rego who is organizing Ms and Mrs Mangaluru 2018. I wish Joyce Rego all the success.”
Ritesh further said, “We will also train college students in the coming days. There is a huge demand for fashion and such beauty courses have great demand. We have faculties who are highly trained and experienced. Those who complete their course here will get a certificate from the Lakme Academy which is globally recognized.”
The Lakme Academy centre head Shruti briefed on the courses available at Lakme and the procedure to complete the courses. Shruti further said, “You all do the basic make-up. When you learn in beauty parlours they teach you practicals according to your interest. But here in Lakme, we give theory classes along with practicals. We teach you to do the makeup according to your skin complexion. If you want to be a make-up artist you have a separate course. If you want to do the complete beautician course, you need to learn cosmetology. If you learn cosmetology you can also work with the Skin doctors. When I was discussing this matter with my boss, I told him about training the transgenders. I have got an opportunity to participate in Ms and Mrs Mangaluru 2018 which is being organized for a social cause. When I discussed this issue with Joyce Rego she asked me to speak to Violet and Violet supported me in a much broader way to hold these beauty courses for all of you”.
Transgenders will be provided with free courses and also accepted if they are willing to join the academy as beauticians.
Founder of Parivarthan Violet Pereira thanked Rithesh for providing an opportunity for the transgenders and also for inviting them to join the academy. She wished Rithesh all the very best and success in endeavours.
Organizer of Ms and Mrs Mangaluru 2018 Joyce Rego and faculties of Lakme Academy were also present.
