Launch of New Classrooms at DK ZP School-A Project by MRT-115

Launching of New Classrooms at Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayath School at Bikarnakatta, Mangaluru-A project by Mangalore Round Table-115 and Mangalore Ladies Circle-82

Mangaluru: Mangalore Round Table-115 and Mangalore Ladies Circle-82 launched yet another project of theirs by contributing Rs 3,50,000 towards the construction of two new additional classrooms at the Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayath School at Bikarnakatta, Mangaluru on 14 July 2017. Credia-Mangaluru contributed Rs 24,200, while N Rao, an old-student along with his sons had contributed Rs 4 lakhs, among many other donors in completing these additional classrooms, built at a cost of Rs 11 lakhs. The classrooms were inaugurated by MLA JR Lobo, along with MCC Mayor Kavitha Sanil, old-student of the school N Rao, Corporator Sabitha Misquith, Education Officer M P Jnanesh and others.

After the inauguration a formal function was held at the School Auditorium, which was graced by well-wishers, old-students of the school, donors and members of MRT-115. The programme began with a prayer led by the school children, followed by welcome address by the Headmistress of the school, Ms Rajivi. Addressing the gathering MLAJ JR Lobo said, ” We need to appreciate the good work done by MRT-115 along with MLC-82 in contributing to the cost of building these two classrooms. When government lacks behind in supporting government funded schools, help from organizations like these is very much needed. We also should commend old-student of this school N Rao for also financially supporting this project. Now that these classrooms are built, it is the duty of the students to study well, get good grades and become the future citizens of India. “

Mayor Kavitha addressing the audience said, ” If the government sanctions some funds towards MCC to restore some of the dilapidated government schools in Mangalure, MCC will be ready to undertake such projects at the earliest. Glad to note that organizations and other donors have come forward to help this school in building two new classrooms, which will surely benefit the students. Any help that is needed from MCC we will be ready to support the school in their projects”.

N Rao and Jnanesh also spoke during the occasion. Shoes and school uniforms were distributed to the 95 students of the school by MLA J R lobo and Mayor Kavitha, funded by the government. Veena Prabhu proposed the vote of thanks and Shanthi Leena Pais compered the programme- both teachers at the school.
