Leopard caught in Moodubelle, shifted to Pilikula

Udupi: Forest Range Officers caught a male leopard in a cage at Pernakila near Moodubelle here, on July 10.
According to the Forest officer of Hiriyadka division G Naresh, the villagers weve complaining about the sightings of a leopard in their fields from the past three months. The leopard was attacking the cattle and the villagers lived in fear.
Three days ago, forest officials used a street dog as bait to lure the leopard into a cage near Marati Samaja Mandir at Pernakila. In the early hours of July 10, the leopard entered the cage. The locals, who were waiting to catch the leopard, informed the forest officials who immediately reached the spot and took the leopard.
The leopard is said to be aged between 2 to 3 years. It has sustained bruises while trying to escape from the cage. The leopard was later shifted to Pilikula Nisargadhama Mangaluru.
