Let BJP Ban Beef Nationwide including BJP ruled States – U T Khader
Mangaluru: “From the five years people of Dakshina Kannada have supported us. The Congress party led by CM Siddaramaiah has given transparent governance by implementing people-friendly schemes. We hope that people will continue to support us. In the last elections, we had lost in one constituency which we will surely win this time winning in all the 8 constituencies. The BJP has no agenda to keep in front of the people, so they are trying to gain sympathy through the issue of cows. If they are really concerned about the cows, let the BJP ban cow slaughter nationwide and we will support it. Why is the BJP hell-bent on banning cow slaughter in DK, why not in Goa or Tripura? questioned Minister for Food and Civil supplies U T Khader in a press meet held at the District Congress Office here on April 9.
Addressing the mediapersons U T Khader said, “The date for the elections has been announced and the model code of conduct is in force. But most of the religious institutions and organizations are not aware of the model code of conduct. I have requested the election commission to hold a workshop for the members of various religious institutions and organizations.”
When asked about Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat’s statement, “The Temples where U T Khader has visited should be purified”, U T Khader said, “After such statements by Prabhakar Bhat, people of neighbouring constituencies are also inviting me. Prabhakar Bhat has made me more famous by his irresponsible statements and I thank him for that. Those who do not know the culture of this country give such statements. If Prabhakar Bhat has the knowledge of the culture and tradition of this country he would not have commented like that. I know how to respect people from other faith because since my childhood my parents have taught me to treat everyone equally.”
U T Khader also said, “We do not support any cow traffickers or those who indulge in crime. Those who commit crimes, whoever they are should be punished. When the Congress was in power in the centre we started the green revolution but BJP is involved in the Pink revolution. Let they ban beef nationwide because as per the survey in the export of beef, India is in number one place in the world. Why can’t the BJP ban beef in Goa and Tripura because the people of Goa and Tripura consume beef? Why are the BJP leaders hell-bent to ban beef in Dakshina Kannada. Let them ban beef nationwide and we will support it. By allowing Goa, Tripura and other BJP ruled states to consume beef why are these BJP leaders forcing the ban on beef in Dakshina Kannada?”.
When asked about Ashraf contesting the elections from the Ullal Constituency as a JD(S) candidate, U T Khader said, “I am contesting to win the elections, I do not see who is contesting against me or from which party. Let anyone contest.”
District Congress president Harish Kumar, Mamatha Gatti, Sadashiva Ullal and others were also present.
