Let Mayor Release Entire CCTV Footage If she has Courage, We will Expose her in 2 days – Roopa
Mangaluru: “On October 26, when we were in a meeting, we received a call from a person saying that the Watchman’s wife in Sagar Pulemar Residency was assaulted. We went to Pulemar Residency and were shocked to know that our Mayor Kavitha had assaulted the Watchman’s wife. The Mayor should provide protection to women but here, she herself took law in her hands. When Kamala the Watchman’s wife was serving her family members and feeding the child, Mayor Kavitha entered the house, assaulted the Watchman’s wife Kamala and threw the child from her hand. Even the one-and-half-year-old child said that the Mayor assaulted its mother which heart-wrenching. We want to provide justice to Kamala and until she gets the justice we will support her”, said the BJP Mahila Morcha Suratkal Block President Pooja Pai in a press meet held at Hotel Woodlands here on October 28.
Addressing the mediapersons Pooja Pai said, “We did not go there to play politics, we went to help a woman who was assaulted and the BJP Mahila Morcha’s aim is to empower women and help them in times of need. We have done the video and audio recording of the statement by the Watchman’s wife. The incident took place at 4:00 pm on October 26 and on the same day we had gone there around 8:00 pm. If the Mayor says that the developments about the issue are politically motivated, she should provide the CCTV footage to the media. The watchman had also said that the association would hold a meeting and take action, so we came back from there. In the alleged assault by Mayor Kavitha, Kamala was injured in her ear, the Mayor had also punched Kamala in her back when she was picking the child. It was heart-wrenching when the Watchman’s wife explained her plight.”
When asked why they had gone to meet the watchman in that particular building where the Mayor resides to provide justice to the watchman and his family, Pooja Pai said, “According to the information we received we went there, we did not know that the mayor had assaulted her. We were shocked to hear that the Mayor had assaulted the woman. We will not reveal the name of the person who had informed us and put the person’s life in danger. This is not the first incident, there are complaints of the Mayor assaulting the previous watchman too”.
When asked why did they not have the courtesy to speak to the Mayor about the incident, Roopa said, “When there is an assault on women the Mahila Morcha will take the issue seriously. Being an elected representative it is my duty to help the victims. I know that in every building there are CCTV cameras. But when we went to meet the watchman he was very upset. When we rendered our helping hand he was very happy and narrated the entire incident and also asked his wife Kamala to brief us about the attitude of the Mayor. I was shocked to hear that the Mayor had assaulted Kamala. It was a shocking incident being the Mayor and a woman assaulting another woman”.
Addressing the mediapersons Roopa D Bangera said, “We respect the Mayor, but being the Mayor assaulting a poor woman is condemnable. The Mayor said that we are playing politics but if the Mayor has the courage, let her release the entire CCTV footage. The Watchman said, “From the past 9 years I did not assault my wife but the Mayor assaulted her! who is she to assault my wife?” I felt very bad and rendered our support to them. The watchman is afraid to file a case against the Mayor because she is powerful. When we called the Watchman on October 27, he said that the Mayor had threatened them of filing a complaint and putting them behind bars. So we helped them to file a case against the Mayor”
When asked about visiting the watchman in Sagar Pulemar Residency and saying that we were shocked to hear that the Mayor had assaulted the Watchman’s wife, is it not a conspiracy to defame the Mayor? Roopa said, “We the Mahila Morcha help any woman who suffers or are discriminated”.
When asked why they did not meet the Mayor on humanitarian grounds to know the reality, Roopa said, “When we went to the apartment Mayor was not there.”
Roopa Bangera further said, “Mayor should apologise to the Watchman’s family for assaulting them and should resign from the post. The Congress party should pressurise the Mayor to resign. If she does not resign, then all the Congress leaders should resign from their post”.
BJP Mahila Morcha member Manjula said, “Under the JJ act assaulting a child is a crime, the Mayor should be booked under JJ act by the CWC. As the Mayor is very powerful, the case should be investigated by the DCP or higher police officers. Mahila Morcha will support the Watchman’s family until they get justice.”

These BJP Mahila Morcha members are surely not telling the truth. They did not speak to the MAYOR. Secondly they did not call the police to investigate. They want to run the show as per BJP rules. Absolute madness.

Silly Issue that you see all around the City- just because she was a Mayor, the so called Morcha women are making a BIG Issue out of this- this issue will be thrown out by the judge in case it goes to the Court- because there are much more worse cases than these which needs to be attended. I am appalled by the comments above questioning the victim. Congress supporters would rather mock a victim than suspect one of their own leaders. Everyone in India knows how powerful people, especially the politicians, have the bad habit of assaulting common citizens over silly things. We also know how Mayor has a ‘rough and tough’ personality. All these point us to one easy conclusion. I hope that all individuals including Mayor learned a lesson from this incident and move on. She needs to focus on her work.
Where was Mahila Morcha when the unnatural deaths happening. Looks like only intention here is to defame Mayor Kavita. Helping watchman and his wife. People cannot be fooled.
