Let State and Central Govt Clarify on CAA and NRC – U T Khader
Mangaluru: “On January 27, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visited Mangaluru and said that CAA will not affect any Indian so there is no need for anyone to worry. I would like to ask whether there is any need to come to Mangaluru and tell the people not to fear about CAA. Let there be clarity in the acts they have implemented. We would like to tell the government, “Do not create fear among the people by implementing CAA in the country”. It is the duty of the State and central governments to clarify about the CAA and NRC. There is no clarity about NRC and CAA, the defense minister says that they will not implement NRC but Home minister Amit Shah in the Parliament has said that he will implement NRC in the country. The PM has said that he has not thought of implementing NRC. The ruling party should clarify whether they have implemented the NRC or not”, said the former minister and MLA U T Khader in a press meet held at the Circuit House here on January 28.
Addressing the mediapersons U T Khader said, “We are against the CAA because it is against the preamble of the Constitution written by Dr B R Ambedkar. In the preamble of the constitution, it is written “We the People of India”. This means that the people of this country should be aware of any new act when any government implements it. All over the country, people are protesting against the CAA because it is against the preamble of the constitution. In the preamble, it is written, “We the people” and not written as we the Hindus, Christians and Muslims. Any act should unite the people and divide or create fear among the people. We cannot build the country based on religion, we should unite the people to build a strong nation. There is confusion over CAA and NRC. Why was the CAA not implemented in Assam? why is the NRC implemented there? They have created confusion all over the country, in a democratic country, people have the right to protest. If they gather people on the ground and say everything is alright, all the grounds would have filled today.”
U T Khader further said, “In every country, they are giving citizenship. In America, those who born there get citizenship. In England, you can get citizenship through blood relationship. But in India, they are giving citizenship based on religion. Why are they not including the people of Srilanka, Bhutan and nearby countries? CAA is against the constitution, there is a hidden agenda behind it. The government should think of the welfare of the country and not think of dividing the people in the name of CAA. The state and central government should clarify on CAA and NRC. They should not think that they have the majority and can go against the constitution.”
U T Khader also said, “I congratulate Harekala Hajabba and Tulsi Gowda for getting the Padmshree award. But if we ask Hajabba his certificate he cannot provide it as he is not educated. If he doesn’t have an education from where will he get his father’s certificate? The poor, marginalized and the villagers will suffer because of the CAA and NRC. If anyone from Pakistan wants to come to India they will get citizenship but for those who are born here, they should prove their citizenship. Is it patriotism? When the Pro CAA meet was going on in Kulur there was not a single national flag? what is the meaning of that? Our MP says that Dakshina Kannada people will not have any problems with CAA and NRC. If the poor cannot get a ration card for four to five months, how then will they get their certificate? On January 27, BJP tried to get a lot of people for the Pro-CAA programme but they failed. I thank the people for not attending the Pro-CAA programme. On January 15, when the people closed their shops to attend the anti CAA protest, there was a post in the social media asking people not to open their shops. I request everyone not to create misunderstanding among the people by posting such messages.”
