Mangaluru: The candidate from Mangaluru South Constituency J R Lobo held a Padayatra in view of the upcoming Assembly elections from Shree Venkataramana Temple Car Street here on May 7.
J R Lobo along with the District Youth Congress president Mithun Rai, area corporator and the party workers visited Shree Venkataramana Temple and offered prayers.
Later a padayatra was held from the Venkataramana Temple which passed through Navabharath circle – Canara College – Dongarakeri and culminated back near the Temple.
Addressing the gathering J R Lobo said, “I would like to thank all the party workers who were present for the padayatra. I visited the Carstreet area where all have supported and blessed me. This is a great encouragement to me for the upcoming elections. Mangaluru is known for education, we need to develop our industries to create jobs. Our youth after completing their education go to other states or countries in search of jobs. Children who work in other countries send money to their parents who stay alone in Mangaluru. We need to create more jobs by developing the industries, IT sectors and tourism sectors so that we can retain our children in Mangaluru.”
J R Lobo further said, “If we want to develop various sectors we need to improve the law and order situation here. We need to retain peace, communal harmony and unity. From the past five years there have been no untoward incidents in Mangaluru which is helping us to create ‘Brand Mangaluru’. Some years ago our Mangaluru was famous for the wrong reasons but we have worked hard to retain communal harmony, unity and peace. The people of Mangaluru are peace lovers, all of us should join hands to make Mangaluru a model city for the entire country. I have worked hard for the development of Mangaluru city from the past 5 years. Five years ago the roads, drainage, parks, street lights etc were not in good condition, we also had problems in the supply of water. I have started a number of development projects where some have been completed, I will continue to do my best for the betterment of the city and the welfare of the people. According to a survey by Non-government organization Mangaluru is the 6th safest city in the world whereas Singapore is in 5th place. In the coming days let us strengthen Mangaluru and let us make it as the number one safest city in the world.”
Lobo also said, “To make Mangaluru a safe, peaceful and developed city I need your support and blessings. I am contesting from the Mangaluru South Constituency, I request all the people to vote for Congress on May 12”.
Addressing the gathering Mithun Rai said, “The undivided district is famous for Kodial Teru. Today we have prayed at the Venkataramana Temple and I am sure Goddess Sharade will bless Lobo to win the upcoming elections. Today I have seen well-wishers of Lobo for the development work he has done. We are not here to show our muscle power but our aim is to bring peace, harmony, and unity in the society. DK is famous for unity, brotherhood and harmony. If we want to retain communal harmony we need a secular person who thinks about the development of the city. The development work done by Lobo in the city in the past 5 years is visible. Lobo has brought more than Rs 1000 crore for the development of the Mangaluru South constituency.”
Mithun further said, “Our youth after their education, go to other states and countries. Our aim is to create jobs for our youth. In the Mangaluru South Constituency, we need to develop an IT Hub, bring multinational companies and industries. Lobo has done a good work and the people of the South constituency are aware of it. If we want to make our dream come true we need to support J R Lobo and vote for him. I am a real Hindu and my religion teaches me to love people of other religions. I wish Lobo all the best and hope to see him as a minister.”
Sneha Bhat also spoke on the occasion. Praveenchandra Alva, Vinayraj, Dhananjay, Vishwas Das and others were also present.
