‘Lies are Modi’s and Yeddyurappa’s Capital’ – Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah

Byndoor: “No one wanted the by-election in Ballari Lok Sabha constituency. However, it has been forced on the people due to the resignation of Sriramulu. In a democratic setup, tendering resignation without first seeking the approval of the voters is showing disrespect to their mandate,” stated chairman of Congress-JD(S) coalition coordination committee and former chief minister Siddaramaiah.

Addressing the election rally held on behalf of the Congress-JDS candidate in Shivamogga Lok Sabha by-election Madhu Bangarappa, in Byndoor on October 25, he questioned whether those who did not utter a word in the Assembly would open their mouths in the Parliament.

When the Congress party was in the power we had contributed immensely to the development of the Byndoor Constituency. On the other hand, Sriramulu and Reddy brothers, B S Yeddyurappa and his son Raghavendra have done nothing for its development. “If you elect Madhu Bangarappa this time, he will surely continue the development work of the Constituency.

“B S Yeddyurappa had never raised the problems faced by the district in the Parliament. Though their own government was ruling at the Centre, they did little for the development of the constituency. If Madhu Bangarappa is elected, he will get projects for the Constituency,” Siddaramaiah said.

He claimed that the Congress government is free of any scams. “I have never seen any person in my 40 years of political life who tells as many lies as Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Now, he is not opening his mouth regarding the Rafale deal,” he said.

He stated that the previous Congress government had released Rs 1,200 crore for the development of the Byndoor constituency. Madhu Bangarappa is a very nice person. You should vote in his favour in large numbers,” he requested.

The people of the country have not seen a great liar like Modi in the last 70 years. The PM has stooped to the level of BJP leaders B S Yeddyurappa and Shobha Karandlaje in telling lies. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had come to power on the basis of false promises. All his promises, including the creation of jobs and bringing back black money, have not been fulfilled. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari himself has admitted that they had given false promises in order to come to power. Do you need additional proof than this?”, he asked the gathering.

Prime Minister Modi calls himself a ‘chowkidar’. But, several industrialists have looted banks during his term. What was this ‘chowkidar’ doing when Vijay Mallya who looted Rs 9,000 crore and Nirav Modi who looted Rs 14,000 crore, were leaving the country with the loot? he questioned.”

“The Modi government, which works for the rich, is slowly waiving Rs 10 lakh crore debt of businessmen but not the loans of thousands of farmers across the country reeling under the agrarian crisis. During my tenure, the Congress government waived loans of Rs 8,165 crore of over 22 lakh farmers who had borrowed about Rs 50,000 each from state cooperative banks.

“Yeddyurappa has double standards when it comes to farmers’ issue. When Congress leader V S Ugrappa asked Yeddyurappa, the then chief minister, to waive the farm loans in the Legislative Council, Yeddyurappa had said that he did not have a note printing machine.

Rafale deal is the biggest scam the Defence Department in the country has ever witnessed. “The Central government has committed irregularities of more than Rs 40,000 crore by cancelling the earlier deal of purchasing each fighter jet at Rs 326 crore, and replacing it with a deal involving purchasing of 36 jets at a total cost of Rs 1,670 crore”, he alleged.

Udupi district minister in-charge Dr Jayamala, former ministers Pramod Madhwaraj, Vinay Kumar Sorake, Congress-JDS candidate Madhu Bangarappa, MLC Prathapchandra Shetty, former MLA Gopal Poojary, Mankala Vaidya, Congress leaders Janardhan Tonse, Veronica Cornelio and others were present.
