Life-term Sentence Awarded to Yelattur Man for Killing Mother and Sister
Mangaluru: Vasu Poojary (44) from Nelligudde Yelattur in the taluk has been sentenced to undergo life imprisonment for the double murder of his mother and sister.
He had been accused and convicted of hacking his mother Rati Poojarti (61) and sister Vimala (25) in the morning of Dec 11, 2009. His another sister Prema has filed a complaint in the Mulki police station.
The then-inspector, Shivaprakash R Nayak, had filed the chargesheet in the first additional district and sessions court, which examined 13 witnesses.
Besides sentencing him to life in jail, the court has also ordered him to pay a fine of Rs 5,000.
