Life Threat to Jain, Mithun Rai and Arun Kumar, Four held
Moodbidri: Four persons have been arrested by the police on March 24, in connection with threat to life of former minister Abhaychandra Jain, Youth President Mithun Rai and Vice president of Valvadi Gram Panchayat Arun Kumar on March 21.
The arrested have been identified as Sachin Shetty, Praveen Shetty, Sandeep Kumar and Umesh Shetty from Eedu Grama, Moodbidri.
According to the police on March 21, Arun Kumar received calls from three numbers with a threat to his life and the lives of Abhaychandra Jain and Mithun Rai. Praveen Shetty had threatened Arun Kumar that he would kill him along with Abhaychandra Jain and Mithun Rai on April 5, during the Eedu Temple festival. In this connection, Arun Kumar filed a complaint in the Moodbidri police station.
The threat calls were made from three telephone numbers by four persons. The accused had threatened of killing Abhaychandra Jain, Mithun Rai and Arun. In this connection, all the four accused have been arrested. A FIR has been registered in the Moodbidri police station.
A video clipping of a verbal attack on Abhaychandra Jain at Panapila was viral in the WhatsApp. After Arun Shetty questioned about the video clippings, he received the threat.
Recently Sudatta Jain who was on a hunger strike also received a life threat. But Sudatta Jain did not file any complaint but wanted the police to file a Suo Moto case and investigate the matter. Sudatta Jain in the past had also received life threats for fighting for the rights of daily wage labourers.
