Life Threat to Kalladka Bhat, BJP Demands Police Protection
Mangaluru: “In order to condemn the brutal assault on Sharath, BJP leaders along with the party workers participated in the protest in B C Road. We have protested very peacefully and the police also co-operated with us. On July 7, evening Sharath breathed his last in the hospital. On July 8, while Sharath’s mortal remains were being taken in a procession from the Hospital to his hometown at Bantwal some miscreants pelted stones. In the stone pelting incident, many innocent youth who have also been arrested by the police should be released immediately”, said the General Secretary of BJP Capt Brijesh Chowta in a press meet held at the BJP office here on July 8.
Addressing the mediapersons Brijesh Chowta said, “From the past four years after the Congress party came to power, we had informed the government that illegal cow trafficking, sand mafia and drug mafia are operating in the district. The money gained through these illegal activities is being used to create trouble in the district and we are 100% sure about it. Former SP Borase had also said that drug mafia is rampant in Bantwal but so far no action has been taken to curb their activities. The district minister in-charge and the MLAs are interfering in the operations of the police department. From the past 40 days section 144 has been imposed in the district which shows the failure of the district minister. The BJP demands the immediate resignation of the District minister in-charge”.
Brijesh further said, “The Facebook page Mangalore Muslims has been posting inciting messages, giving life threats and spreading communal disturbance in the district, this FB page should be banned and a case should be filed against the admins of the page. When Sharath breathed his last in the hospital on July 7, the Mangalore Muslims page posted, “One wicket down in A J Hospital, when in Kalladka?”. These inciting messages are being posted to create communal disturbance in the district. When Ashraf was killed message on the same page was “Namma Kolege Pratikara madade navu marana hondalarevu” (We will not die until we take revenge for the murder). After some days of the post Sharath was brutally assaulted in B C Road. On July 7, the same page posted “If Kalladka Bhat dies how will he be respected, with the national flag or the Saffron Flag? Today is his last day, decide”. This shows that Dr Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat is not safe. He should be given police protection”.
Brijesh also said, “The admin of the Mangalore Muslims Facebook page should be arrested under cyber crime and strict action should be taken. The innocent youth who have been arrested should be released immediately. In the district, the useless minister should resign immediately. SDPI, PFI and KFD should be banned immediately to maintain peace in the district”.
Vikas Puttur, Kishore Rai, Ravishanker Mijar, Harish Punja, Bhaskar Chandrashekar, Namitha Shyam, Sanjay Prabhu and others were also present.
