Like Dad, Son! 13-year-old Param Jain bags 2 Gold Medals in ALL India Level Photographic Contest conducted by Youth Photographic Society, Bengaluru.

Mangaluru: From Dance to Photography, from Art to Music, we have seen father-child duos who have made it big in the same fields. Fathers are always inspiring figures in the lives of their children. Whether it is their professional ethics or personal experiences, kids learn so much from their fathers. Like the saying, “Every Son wants to follow in his Father’s footsteps”, has been true in many cases, and this story is an perfect example. “My father is the only biggest influence in my life. And it’s not like he taught me to be like him, he was just doing his own thing and I got influenced by him. He’s single-handedly impacted me” says 13-year-old Param Jain, who just like his freelance pro-photographer Jinesh Prasad, (who also has won over 100 plus international photographic awards), has bagged two gold medals in All India Level Photographic Contest conducted by Youth Photographic Society, Bengaluru.

Youth Photographic Society (YPS) Bengaluru, the hosts for this contest, is a not-for-profit organization started in 1971 to further the Art of Photography. With over 400 members, YPS is among the largest Photography Clubs in India and also boasts of hosting 44 National and International Salons. It has been nurtured by doyens of Indian Photography like Late T N A Perumal, Late E Hanumantha Rao and Late C Rajagopal. The club conducts regular slide-shows on every first and third Saturday of the month, alongside exhibitions and workshops, for the benefit of its members.

Like every year, this year too, Youth Photographic Society Benagaluru had conducted the ALL India Level Photographic Competition, and there were more than 3377 photos from 308 participants from all over India. In the youth section below 18 years, Param Jain also participated and won Two Gold Medals in photo “Travel Section” and “Black and White section”. He won for his title ” THEYYAM FACE ART” clicked near Kannur, Kerala in black and white section; and also won for his other title “Long Leg March”, clicked during one of Alva’s Festival at Moodabidri, in the Travel Section.

Young Param Jain is the son of Jinesh Prasad, a pro-freelance photographer for the last thirty years, having won many many international photographic awards in the past, and Mrs Ramya Ballal, an employee at SDM Business Management College, Mangaluru. Param is studying in 8th standard at Rotary English Medium School, Moodabidri, and has an elder brother, Ganam, doing his Vth semester in Engineering at Nitte Engineering College. Apart from photography, Param’s other hobbies are playing music on keyboard, drawing, collecting stamps, coins and other interesting things.

Speaking about his son’s achievement, dad Jinesh said, “I am very proud of my son for his accomplishment in photographic talents at this very young age. My elder son was not so keen in photography, but Param used to follow me to various places when I went out for photo shoots, and was very keen in learning the techniques. He had entered into many other international photographic contests in the past, and even though he didn’t win, his photographs were shortlisted , recognized and accepted, and presented during the exhibit. I would give him all the support from my side in his photographic interests and talents, and it’s a proud moment for us parents, of his achievement at such a young age”.

In conclusion, if dads spent more time with their children would be precious, that their children would be watching them, and that perhaps they’d grow up to be “just like them.” Perhaps as it had been when a baker’s son became a baker-proud of his trade. When a shepherd’s son tended the offspring of his flock-proud of his trade. When a king’s son became a king and one particular carpenter’s son became a carpenter…until the day He became the King of Kings. And here we have young Param Jain who learned the photographic techniques from his dad, having won two gold medals at age 13, would surely someday become a PRO PHOTOGRAPHER just like his dad!
