Liverpool seal Andy Robertson move from Hull City
London, July 22 (IANS) Scotland international Andy Robertson put pen to paper on a long-term contract with Liverpool, the English Premier League (EPL) football club announced on its website.
Speaking after completing his move, the 23-year-old defender told Liverpoolfc.com: “It feels a wee bit surreal just now. Obviously I’m delighted. There’s been a lot of speculation over the last couple of weeks but I’m glad that the deal’s finally been done and I’m a Liverpool player”.
“There’s not many, if any, more special clubs than Liverpool. When you grow up as a kid you dream of playing with big clubs such as Liverpool and to make that a reality is a dream come true for me,” he said, as reported by Efe.
“I just want to prove to people that I can do it at this level, and hopefully I manage to do that this season and go on to do good things for this club.”
The manager of the Red Devils, German Jurgen Klopp, welcomed the new player: “For Andrew this is another big step on what has been a quite incredible personal journey in a very short space of time”.
“I love his story; where he has come from professionally to reach this point,” Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com.
Robertson began his senior career with Queen’s Park in 2012 before joining Dundee United a year later.
In his first season as a professional he was named Scottish Young Player of the Year and also made his international debut.
The defender joined Hull in July 2014 for a fee of 3.17 million euro ($3.7 million), before joining Liverpool for an undisclosed fee.
