Lokayukta Justice Santhosh Hegde speaks at ‘Rostrum-Speakers’ Club’ of Alva’s College Event

 Moodbidri: Today we are leaving in the society where money and power matters a lot and there is mad race for acquiring these through selfish and greedy means, said former Lokayuktha Justice Santosh Hegde. He was speaking in the guest talk organized by ‘Rostrum, Speakers’ Club’ of Alva’s Education Foundation, Mijar, Moodbidri.

He said, ‘fall in social values has led to fall in administration of the country’. “I had not seen the suffering of people until I came to the post of Karnataka Lokayuktha. The sufferings of people changed my outlook towards life, he added. In his 2011 session to students, he said ‘Every one will get a chance, but if you make use of the opportunity and deliver your duty honestly then another better favorable fortuity will come in your way. He called upon students to inculcate contentment and humanism, which makes live like a true human being in the society

During the interaction session answering a question on restriction of media coverage inside assembly he said, it is unlawful and unconstitutional to restrict the media. It is a right of every tax paying citizen to know what their representative is up to. While talking about abrogation of article 370 he voiced that ‘Come what may, our country stands above all’. It’s our responsibility do anything it may take to keep it that way. In the question session he said, reservation must be given depending upon the economic status of a person, but not caste-based.

Hegde acknowledged students regarding many other aspects like Cryptocurrency menace, adultery law in India. While discussing on the rape issues he strongly uttered that death sentence is the only punishment which must be made compulsory for the rape culprits. Corruption cannot be eradicated at all. It is a contagious disease. No country is corruption-free. It can be reduced by implementing morality and contentment among people, he opined. In the session he sensitized the scarcity of water and asked the younger generation to use it wisely and save it for the next generation.
