Lokayukta Raid: Junior Engineer and Chief Officer Caught Taking Bribe

Mangaluru: Lokayukta officials raided the Kinnigoli town panchayat office in Moodbidri Taluk, Dakshina Kannada District, and caught Junior Engineer Nagaraju and Chief Officer M.R. Swamy red-handed while accepting a bribe.

Nagaraju demanded Rs 30,000, while Swamy asked for Rs 15,000 from a contractor to clear a bill of Rs 9,77,154 for lake development work. The raid, led by Lokayukta SP MA Nataraj, exposed these officials’ corrupt practices.

This incident highlights the ongoing efforts of the Lokayukta to curb corruption in government offices. The Karnataka Lokayukta has been actively investigating and taking action against officials involved in misconduct and bribery.
