Lokayukta Sleuths Arrest MUDA Commissioner and Broker While Accepting Bribe
Mangaluru: The Lokayukta sleuths raided the MUDA office while the broker Mohammed Saleem was accepting a bribe under the direction of the MUDA commissioner Mansoor Ali, on March 23.
According to the Lokayukta DySP Cheluvaraju, the complainant had purchased 10.8 acres of land in Kudupu which comes under the Mangaluru city corporation and had applied for a TDR certificate, but the MUDA commissioner had kept the file pending. When the complainant approached the MUDA Commissioner to get TDR clearance, he demanded Rs 25 lakh.
On March 22, the complainant went to MUDA to hand over the money to the MUDA commissioner. While receiving the bribe, Lokayukta sleuths caught the broker red-handed. Both the broker and the MUDA Commissioner were taken into police custody and the money received as a bribe was seized.
The raid was carried out by the Lokayukta DySP Cheluvaraju, Police Inspector Amanulla and Suresh Kumar. A case has been registered in the Lokayukta police station and further investigation is on.
