Loose Talk about Police Department will not be Tolerated – SP Annamalai

Chikkamagaluru: “Don’t speak loosely about the police department. After wearing Khaki we treat every single person and religions equally. My subordinates will work only on my orders. If anyone is unnecessarily involved in loose talk about the police department, I will take serious action against them”, warned Chikkamagaluru Superintendent of Police K Annamalai to the associations.

He was speaking to mediapersons about the death of a college girl Dhanyashree at his office on Wednesday, January 10. Annamalai said, “The district is functioning in a peaceful manner and I don’t want anyone to spoil the peace in the district. Don’t create misunderstandings between the people by giving false statements. Do not play with snakes because if you hold the head or tail of a snake it will bite. I did not come here to create a drama. After completing my IPS I have been posted in the police department. This is my last warning to all the associations who are involved in loose talk against the police department. If such attitude is continued the police department will take serious action against those involved”.

Recalling the incident of Dhanyashree Annamalai said that the girl Dhanyashree had committed suicide at her residence on Saturday. According to the suicide note, she was upset since a group of five persons had picked up a quarrel with her after accusing her of having friendship with a Muslim boy. Based on the suicide note recovered from the scene the Mudigere police arrested M V Anil an activist of a political party. The police are interrogating him.

The five had visited her house on Saturday evening and picked up an argument with the girl and her mother. The group had accused the girl of roaming with a Muslim boy, and giving way to ‘Love Jihad’. Upset over the development, the girl had committed suicide.

The police, after recovering the death note, registered a case of abetment to suicide. Two teams have been formed to arrest those involved in the incident. We have listed the five accused as per the death note and one among them has been arrested, he said.

The police have also recovered the phone of the deceased. They have learnt that the picture where the girl was seen with the Muslim boy was circulated widely on social media. “Many have made comments on the picture. We will arrest all those who have harassed her orally or through the social media. Some people tried to misguide Dhanyashree’s father and filed a fake complaint. The department will also take action against them. We have taken the case seriously and our teams are working to arrest the accused,” Annamalai said.
