Lorry Driver disappears with Owner’s Cash, Arrested
Mangaluru: The Kankanady Town police have arrested a lorry driver who was absconding with Rs 14.6 lakh belonging to his owner at Hemmadi, here on May 23.
The arrested has been identified as Ansar Ahamed from Hemmadi Kundapur.
Abdul Rahman the owner of a Lorry had employed Ansar Ahamed as the driver of his vehicle. On May 6, Ansar Ahamed taken goods to Kerala and in return, Ansar had to hand over a sum of Rs 14,60,980 in the office of Noor Transport at Nagoor, Kundapur.
But Ansar did not hand over the money to the office or Abdul Rahman nor did he reach Kundapur. In this connection, Abdul Rahman filed a complaint in the Kankanady Town Police station. Head constable Ravindranath Rai was appointed to find out the whereabouts of the driver. Ravindranath Rai went to various places in Maharastra, Hyderabad, and Raichur and collected all necessary information and learnt that Ansar was coming back to Hemmadi. The police team set up a trap and waited for Ansar. When Ansar arrived at his rented house, he was arrested by the police.
The police have now recovered Rs 11,42,700 from his possession.
Under the able guidance of Police commissioner Chandra Sekhar, DCP Law and Order Shantharaju, DCP Crime and Traffic Dr Sanjeev Patil and ACP Shruthi, the operation was carried out by the Police inspector of Kankanady Town police station Ravi Naik, PSI Shankar Patali and Head constable Ravindranath Rai.
