New Delhi, Dec 6 (IANS) Grammy Award-winning DJ and producer Afrojack, who is currently touring India, says he loves playing for his fans in the country.

“India is a great land of culture. I love the Indian vibe. It feels so positive every time I’m here. I love my fans in India, they just don’t quit,” Afrojack, whose real name is Nick van de Wall, told IANS in an email interview.

The musician also said that the passion of Indian music fans compels artists like him to travel to the country for shows.

“I don’t know if the rest of the world knows yet, but every DJ already knows the passion and love is real in India, that’s why we all keep coming every year! Every dance music fan in India is a prime example of what the scene is about,” he added.

Afrojack, who headlined the Smirnoff Experience Music Festival in Mumbai on November 29, said: “There’s nothing better than making music and hearing 20,000 people chant, ‘Afrojack! Afrojack!'”

Asked about the massive surge of electronic dance music (EDM) in India, the “Rock the house” hitmaker said that right now the entire music scene in the world is “really interesting”.

“You have a lot of new genres and sounds popping up, and this is something I’ve always been interested in,” he added.

At the age of 28, Afrojack has already made it to Forbes list as one of the highest earning DJs in the world. But despite that, he says he still hasn’t accomplished “anything yet”.

“I don’t feel like I’ve accomplished anything yet. I feel like I’m on the road to accomplishing something,” he said.

“I feel like I accomplished something when I spoke to a fan and he’s like, ‘I have two jobs and kids and I’m working hard. I want to make music and I have no time’. Speaking to the same guy six months later, he’s like, ‘Yeah, I quit one job and I still put food on the table. I put some effort into it. I really started studying how to make music.’ And now he’s a full-time producer. And he’s happy and everything’s going better,” he added.

He also said that he wants “all the budding DJs to work hard and smart and make music by your heart.”

“The message that I wanted to send out is that I came here to where I am today by following my heart and following what I think is fun and what I think is cool. You have to just do it,” he said.

“If you really want to be a music producer, start trying to make music. If you’re not going to try, then it’s impossible. When you try, it’s always possible.”
