LPG tanker overturns in Kumta, causes panic
Kumta: As the gas tanker tragedy in Bhatkal is still fresh in the minds, the residents of Betkuli gram limits in Kumta pressed the panic button when a bullet tanker carrying liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) overturned on 27th October, Thursday near Betkuli on NH66.
According to sources, the tanker toppled on the national highway after the driver lost control of the vehicle. The tanker filled with gas belonged to Bharat petroleum and was on its way from Mangaluru to Mumbai when the incident took place.
As the information was received, the police and the fire brigade team immediately rushed to the spot, cordoned the area and conducted necessary investigations to handle the incident. Traffic movement which was disrupted for some time, as soon as the situation was brought under control, was cleared by police.
In this regard, a case has been registered at Kumta police station.
These tanker drivers drive recklessly and thus causes the accident. It is a big risk to others when such incident happens.
