About 2000 volunteers of Samskrita Bharati, Samskrit Scholars, Vice-Chancellors of various Samskrit Universities, Educationalists etc., representing every state and more than 500 districts in the country, will participate in this Convention.

“Samskrita Bharatam – Samartha Bharatam” is the theme around which the entire convention is being organised. Participants will share their inputs, discuss strategies, analyse issues, brainstorm and finalise the roadmap to expand the work of Samskrit so as to touch millions of lives in the next 10 years.

Sumitra Mahajan, Speaker of Lok Sabha along with Sri Vishwesha Thirtha Swamiji of Pejavar Math Udupi inaugurated the All India Convention of Samskrita Bharati by lighting the lamp.

In her inaugural message Sumitra Mahajan said that Samskrit is the most ancient and perfect among the great languages of the world. It is a storehouse of knowledge, unsurpassed and the most invaluable treasure of the world. This unique language contains not only a good account of wisdom for the people of this country, but it is also a unparallel and right way to acquire proper knowledge and it is thus significant for the people of the entire world.

Lauding Samskrit Bharati’s role, to promote the Samskrit language by conducting conversation courses not only in India but also in several countries world over. The revival of Samskrit is necessary to strengthen the roots of Indian culture. The study of Samskrit will help infuse values of life, she added.

She urged Samskrit scholars in the audience to popularise the language by highlighting its simplicity and scientific basis so that society can benefit from it. She stressed the need for undertaking more research in the language in a scientific manner and called for efforts at all levels to make Samskrit a motherland language.

Pramod Madhwaraj district minister in-charge in his message said that Sanskrit was the most clearest and popular language in the world and most ancient language in the country. But the sad part for me and the country is that crores of Indians do not know to speak the Samskrit language. It has failed to reach the grass root levels of our country. There is a need for popularising Sanskrit among the masses.

During the fifth paryaya of Pejawar Swamiji, the All India Convention of Samskrita Bharati being organised here in Udupi is the biggest gift for the people of this region. The National Service Scheme (NSS) is coming under my sports ministry. We have directed the principal secretary to provide Samskrit Subhashitha to all the 3.5 lakh students in the coming days. Let the students also get the knowledge of Samskrit which is the greatest asset to make our youth characteristic. Every youth of the country should get the knowledge of Subhashitha. We should spread the knowledge of Sanskrit to the entire country, he added.
